Printing On Cotton Garments

Many polyester fabrics contain sublimation dyes. When the garment gets hot, those dyes can release and travel into the ink layer.

The print may look perfect coming off the press but change color hours later or after washing.

Red, maroon, black, and athletic garments are especially prone to dye migration.

Low-Bleed Inks Help Prevent Problems

Special low-bleed inks contain blockers that help prevent dyes from migrating into the print.

Products like Poly Trans 25 Series and Underbase LC White are designed to help printers achieve better results on polyester garments.

Low-cure formulations are also useful because they reduce the amount of heat required during curing.

Cotton Is More Forgiving

Cotton allows printers to use higher temperatures without worrying about dye migration.
